How do I add labels, colors and notes to a reader?

Open the reader's profile from Reader Profiles, then use any of these:

  • Color: click one of the eight colors (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple or Pink). A reader has one color at a time. Click the selected color again to remove it.
  • Labels: type in the Add a label, press Enter box and press Enter. Labels you've used on other readers are suggested as you type. A label can be up to 30 characters, and a reader can't have the same label twice. Click the × on a label to remove it.
  • Your notes: type in the notes box. Notes save when you click away from the box.

There's no Save button: changes save straight away. If something doesn't save, you'll see Could not save that. Try again.

Who can see them

Readers never see your colors, labels or notes. Collaborators on your account who can open Reader Profiles can see them, and collaborators with edit access can change them. Without edit access, these controls are read-only.

Using them later

Colors and labels each have a filter on the Reader Profiles list, and the search box also searches your labels and notes. For example, label your favorite reviewers Street team and filter by that label when you're choosing who gets your next ARC.
