What does a leak flag on a reader mean?

A leak flag means a leaked file was matched to a copy you sent this reader. It shows whose copy it was. It doesn't prove who shared it, because a copy can be forwarded or an account can be shared.

How a flag is added

  1. Open Leak Detector from the left sidebar and check the leaked file or text.
  2. If it matches a copy you sent to someone with an email address, click Flag on reader profile.
  3. The button changes to Flagged on reader profile.

Flags are only added when you click that button. Nothing is flagged automatically.

Where the flag shows

  • On the reader's profile, in a Copy traced to this reader box listing the book, the date and a note.
  • As a Leak flag badge on their row in Reader Profiles.
  • As a Leak flag badge next to their name in ARC Tracker. Click it to open their profile.

Clearing a flag

Open the reader's profile and click Clear next to the flag you want to remove. You need edit access to do this. Clearing a flag doesn't change anything in Leak Detector or Piracy Monitor.
